Giardini la Mortella visit to the garden and concert

"Giardini La Mortella" is the splendid garden, created by Susana Walton, Argentinian wife of William Walton, a well-known English composer. In 1956 the famous landscape architect Russell Page designed the layout of the garden integrating it among the picturesque rock formations of volcanic origin. The entire surface extends for about 2 hectares and houses a collection that boasts more than 3000 species of rare exotic plants. Countless collections of giant water lilies, orchids, palms, cycads, tree ferns inserted in tropical greenhouses and aviaries. Everything is designed with skilful skill and is enriched by fountains, pools and streams that allow the cultivation of a superb collection of aquatic plants including papyrus, lotus flowers and tropical water lilies. The various areas of the garden are connected by a series of avenues and paths that lead the visitor from terrace to terrace, up to the splendid views overlooking the bay of Forio. An authorized guide will show you each species of plants, flowers, trees, shrubs, bushes, will tell you their history, their origin, the care they need under the supervision of a team of professional gardeners.

It is possible to visit the garden while also combining the musical experience thanks to the vast concert program at the Recital Hall inside the structure.

Pick up at the hotel at 2.30 pm | 15.00 depending on the location, at the end of the visit you will access the concert scheduled for the requested day.

USEFUL INFORMATION FOR GARDEN VISIT:

• There are two entrances to the garden:
  - Via Francesco Calise 45 - pedestrian entrance;
  - Via Zaro - Vehicle entrance with free parking
• The ticket office closes 1 hour before Garden’s closing time.
• The garden covers about 2 hectares in split levels, with ramps and stairways. Allow at least 2 hours for visiting.
• The visit is not guided. Please take a map of the garden with suggested itinerary at the ticket office.
• You can access an interactive visit thorugh QR-Code available along the way.
• School groups must reserve their visit in advance.
• Children aged 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
• No pets allowed, even on a leash.
