A nature trail through caves and sites of historical and biological interest. In all simplicity, through a guided snorkelling tour, you can visit the beautiful Green Grotto, the Grotta del Mago, the archaeological area of the Ninfeo rock in Cartaromana and the port of Aenaria .
The backdrop in front of the Aragonese Castle, where you can observe the phenomenon of gaseous emissions in less than a meter of depth.
Well before the Borgo di Mare, another settlement overlooked the Bay of Cartaromana until a few years ago, completely unknown. We are talking about Aenaria, an urban aggregate from the Roman age which today, due to the complex geological events of the island, lies below sea level at a depth of six metres.
An underwater archaeological research project began in 2011 which, year after year, is revealing the remains of the Roman age of Aenaria and in particular its port and the wall structures of a seaside villa.
It is possible to visit the archaeological excavations of the ancient Roman settlement of Aenaria in the bay of Cartaromana thanks to the "Borgo Di Mare", the remains of other Roman structures and the characteristic gaseous emissions of carbon dioxide near the Aragonese Castle, after a short briefing in the room of the Multimedia Educational Center "Aenaria archaeological tour".
